Highlights from this past week

Long Island

The first PHL Long Island game of 2020 took place Tuesday between the Dirty Birds & Fourth Meal. In what has become a fun rivalry, the Dirty Birds prevailed 3-2 to get off to a much needed good start to the season. The Bad News Beers defeated the Ice Warriors for the first time in their franchises history in another close game 3-2 with Rob Lynott scoring the game winner late for da beers.

The Silver division kicked things off on Saturday with the Mighty Drunks beating the War Chiefs. In the other game the Fishbones defeated the Hammerheads by 11-1, however the game was much closer than the final score shows as the Fishbones headed into the 3rd period only up 3-1.

Philadelphia (Flyers SZ)

The start of the PHL Philly season is marked by change. For the first time ever we have 4 divisions and schedule changes have just been made today to help balance out the competition. The Blue Sox and Glacier Alum sit atop the Clarke division standings after weeks, however, Team Dirty has become a formidable opponent against them and are in each game every week. Also, after the first 2 games of the season we have decided to make the move and drop the Reign down to the Leclair division. In that division the Grudge are off to the hottest start in the league and have become a candidate to replace the Reign in the leagues top division.

After starting last season poorly the Slashers are off to a 2-0 start to the season in the Lindros divison; they are joined by the Mighty Drunks for the top spot.

In the Hextall division the Skulls sit alone on top and hope to carry this momentum thorough the season. With early season additions to the roster, can they be the team to challenge Arts Army? Banshee are off to a slow start, but don't be fooled, this team has been a contender in recent seasons.

PHL Updates

We are looking forward to big additions in 2020. The Flyers Skate Zones are having us take over the adult league at their Voorhees location starting in April. We can't wait to get things started with the solid base of 15 teams already playing there. This is also the official practice facility of the Philadelphia Flyers.

We have also partnered with the Lancaster Ice Rink to start their adult league in April. We have gained tremendous interest so far from local teams and the excitement is building every day!

Lastly, we have just partnered with Holy Cross to run the adult league at their beautiful campus rink starting in September. The Hart Ice Center is one of the most prestigious places to play in Worcester, Mass.
